Day 1: Pick up & drive to Volcanoes National Park –Ruhengeri Region
You will be picked up at the airport, get briefed, and start the 2-3 hours journey to Volcanoes National Park. This park is located in Northwestern Rwanda and en route, you will agree that indeed Rwanda is a true land of a thousand hills. Enjoy the scenic rolling hills, and homesteads and arrive early to check in your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and a night sleep.

Day 2: The first gorilla trekking expedition & Iby’Iwacu village
The first gorilla group will be explored today starting at Kinigi after a briefing on rules and regulations. Trek gorillas deep in the dense forest for 2-6 hours depending on where they are and enjoy a maximum of a one-hour face-to-face encounter. As you wind through the bamboo and rainforest, other wildlife, birds, and flora can be viewed.
Start walking back to the lodge in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park to have lunch and relaxation. Late in the afternoon, set off for a cultural tour and you will be visiting Iby’Iwacu village.

Day 3: The second trekking with mountain gorillas & twin Lakes tour/Relax
A delicious breakfast will be had at the lodge and after, leave your accommodation for another briefing session and tracking the second gorilla group. Other trekkers will be found already at the briefing area or they will join you. You will be assigned the same or different gorilla group and tracking time takes between 2 and 6 hours which covers an hour of a close encounter and taking pictures. Optional activities to do in the afternoon: tour the Twin Lakes (Lake Burera & Ruhondo), and Musanze caves or relax at the lodge.

Drive back to Kigali for a city tour that takes you through what took place during the 1994 Rwanda genocide. You will be visiting Kigali memorial center and other historical/cultural sites. The driver guide will drop you off at the hotel or airport for departure.
